Analyst predicts that the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 7s models will have wireless charging

In a note to investors, KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple’s upcoming iPhones will all feature wireless charging.

It’s safe to say that Ming-Chi Kuo is the most reliable source of information on Apple’s products. His predictions in the past have been uncannily accurate. While he doesn’t actually have a 100 percent record with his predictions, he’s been right so often that when he predicts something, everyone pricks up their ears.

In his report, Kuo predicts that the upcoming iPhone 8 and updated iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will all feature wireless charging support, reports 9to5Mac. He goes on to say that wireless charging will heat up the phone and that a new, protective graphite layer will be added under the 3D Touch sensor.

This layer alone, adds Kuo, will raise the cost of the sensor by as much as 30-50 percent.

Coupling this with rumors that the iPhone 8 will be the most expensive phone from Apple, one can see why. The price of the iPhone 7s models is expected to be in line with current prices.

Another thing to note is that the expected all-glass design of the iPhone 8 is more of an insulator than a conductor and will lead to more internal heat. All these factors are responsible for raising the price of the iPhone 8, believes Kuo.
