Moto G5 and G5 Plus renders leak again, expect a premium design

Motorola is expected to announce a pair of new Moto G smartphones this year and we’ve already seen some live hands-on images of the upcoming devices. Now a new set of images from a case maker show the handsets in a different hue.

The new Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will be successors to last year’s Moto G4 duo and thanks to Roland Quandt on Twitter, we can see that the new handsets will have a premium finish. The last set of leaked images showcased the handset in silver and black treatment while what we see here is the golden variant of the devices. It seems to share some design cues of the recently launched Moto M including a metal finish.

You can also see that both the smartphones will have a front facing fingerprint scanner sitting below the display. This time however it will be a curved rectangle rather than the awkward square shaped one that was seen on the Moto G4 Plus.

Considering the recent launch invite, we can expect the smartphone to be officially announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and hit stores in March. Rumoured specs say that it could feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13 MP main camera, a 5MP selfie camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, a fingerprint scanner, a 3,080 mAh battery and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. We don’t exactly know the differences between the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus, but it could be different RAM and storage variants.
